May 4 - 6.

Finally on the road with a short trip to Boston. Went out to a comedy house to see a naked comedy show. Some good, some bad...and then there was the comedy...

We had a late start to the day before getting on the road at 2pm heading to Richmond Sauna in Maine. We had our first 'incident' with the van when I scraped the awning against the power box on the house we were parked at overnight which left a dent and missing paint on the awning.

It seemed to take forever just to get on the motorway and became a good & easy drive once we hit the highway north and gave us the chance to get use to the handling of the van.

We spent 2 very pleasant nights at Richmond Sauna in Maine. This was intended to be a 1 night stay which turned into a 2 nighter waiting for Amy's passport to be sent up. Richmond Sauna is a clothing option BB with multi room saunas, a hot tub and pool. The hosts Richard and Jennie were very welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.

We were also looked after by a volunteer Paul who made sure all our requirements were met. He even took time to warn us of the frisky couples who came to the sauna, to make sure we were comfortable with that environment.

We took advantage of the nearby town of Freeport to do some retail therapy and bought some much needed warm clothing supplies. We also loaded up our grocery supplies and indulged in a few lobster rolls.

Leaving the sauna behind we drove to Bar Harbor in Maine and set up camp in the KOA campgrounds. This is the 1st night with full hook up on the RV. The view we have is a spectacular water view of an inlet from the Atlantic Ocean.

The highlight of the drive was crossing a bridge at Penobscot Narrows with great views of the town of Bucksport.
