We are enjoying our time in Mitchell, SD. Today we visited the world-famous "Corn Palace." It is a stunning civic center, decorated inside and out with more than 2,000 bushels of corn and 40 tons of other grains.
Eleven shades of corn are used for the different designs. The designs change every year. I am adding pictures showing the first design done in 1892 and a few other years.
The murals are outstanding, they are all around the side and front, as well as the inside. The price to get in is FREE. You can't beat that! It was a cool place to see and we highly recommend it if you are in the area.
