Saturday, May 30, 2009. Bonanza Gold RV Park, Dawson City, Yukon, Canada. Whitehorse S.S. Klondike and Drive to Dawson City Jonathan woke up about 4:45 this morning and said he had a headache. I rubbed his temples for a little while hoping it would go away but it didn't. I gave him some ibuprofen and he dozed off for about half an hour. The alarm went off at 6:00 because we had a lot to do before we got on the road today. We needed to go downtown and make a stop at the bank and post office. We wanted to see the S.S. Klondike too. The weather had been so wet and cold that we decided we would go ahead and drive to Dawson City and spend more time in Whitehorse on the way back south in September. There are a few more things we would like to see here. We got on the road around 10:00 AM. We figured our drive would be around seven hours today. We made one stop along a roadside for lunch but the rest of the time was just steady driving. There was some pretty scenery but a lot of trees too. We arrived at the campground at 6:30. We checked in then went to the wash rack. Tom sprayed the rig and Yukon down real well then we went looking for a site. There are some big hills behind the campground so we needed to make sure the satellite would shoot over them. We found a site and got the RV backed in. I walked over to take care of paying for the campground fees. I got into a nice conversation with the woman working the desk. She was telling me all kinds of neat things about the area and where things were. I picked up a book I had heard about called Tisha that will be our next read aloud book. We're winding up a book now about a boy Jonathan's age who helps his father on a ranch in Colorado and how he becomes a young man. We'll have to have something good waiting in the wings. It's 11:30 PM and the sun hasn't set yet. It's supposed to set at 12:15 AM (tomorrow)for today. How's that for ya?
