Russian River Campground Overflow Parking Lot, Cooper Landing, Alaska
Best Laid Plans
We left the Williwaw Campground in Chugach National Forest at noon today and drove on over to the Visitor Center again. We had time to see the rest of it this afternoon so we did that after Tom finished up with work. We heard the presentation on the spruce beetle that is killing so many of the trees in North America. It was interesting. We spent a little more time looking at the glaciers from the Visitor Center. The weather was a little clearer today so the view was better. When we were done we got on the road headed for our next campground in the Cooper Landing area. Tom had set up reservations so we would be on full hook-ups so it would be nice to get laundry done give the bathroom a good cleaning. Things we don't do when we're dry camping and water is limited. The rest of the the day went downhill from there.
I didn't know it but Tom had made reservations reservations at the Princess RV Park in Cooper Landing for the next three days. I had read about the place but it was a expensive so just figured we'd find something more practical. When we pulled in I was excited. As the lady at the desk was explaining where everything was she told us guests were allowed to use the whirlpool up at the resort so that was my plan for the evening once we set up camp.
We've learned to make sure the satellite can get online before setting anything else up because if it can't we won't be staying. Well, no luck. We even backed the rig up a few more feet but that mountain was just a little to high to shoot over and nothing else in the campground was going to work any better than that site so we had to leave and go looking for another place to stay for the night. After two other campgrounds, we ended up in an overflow parking lot at Russian River Campground just so we could have dinner and Tom could get to bed. We'll still have a nice anniversary tomorrow. Happy 15th Honey!
