Nelson sits on the Tasman Bay and is about 45 minutes drive from the Abel Tasman National Park. It's the smallest park in New Zealand but apparently the most popular. About one third of New Zealand is designated national parkland or reserve ... the other two thirds look a bit like Devon.

Took a kayak from Marahau and paddled up to Coquille Bay passing several beautifully remote beaches along the way. Four of us then took a water taxi up to Anchorage Bay and did the four hour walk along part of the coastal track back to Marahau.

Stayed at Accents on the Park in Nelson. The best place I've stayed in by far.
