The resident Baby Elephant was a daily visitor and well looked after

As you will all probably know, Phi Phi was one of the worst hit areas of the recent Tsunami and we decided after hearing about it's plight and the need for volunteers that we would make a stop off there on our way down to Malaysia.

After a rather hair raising 3 hours boat from Phuket we had arrived on the island. Immeadiately the horrors of a few months ago hit you as you step off the boat and witness the devastation.

After some time we settled on a small hut away from the main drag of the island and slowly realised that we were OLD, it was like Club 18-21 on the island, bar a few hippies etc.. I think they had all decided to come and have a party whilst contributing to the rebuilding of this island.

Phi Phi town itself is not so big and a very clicky environment is visible as soon as you arrive, not really our cup of tea.

Anyway we decided that we would lend some hands to the clear up operation and offered our services to the office of HI Phi Phi, who requested our snorkelling expertise. We duly agreed and headed to the command post(kind of).

Piss up in a brewery comes to mind with their organisation skills, I am surprised they managed to do anything if this was to go by. Maybe we are just a bit too organised for a set up like this, but they are doing the right thing by helping the islanders.

After some time we eventually got out and started collecting the wood and belongings off the sea bed, a very eery feeling especially when one of the guys found a passport and Tracey came across a photo album.

So we had done our bit and the island really wasn't up to much for what we wanted. We managed to squeeze in a couple of dives whilst we were there, which was great fun as it was only us 2 and we saw a Leopard Shark, it was 5 metres long..!!!well okay about 2 and had no teeth..but still a shark all the same.

Next stop Krabi and for some 5* treatment that the Upshall's had been longing for, so off we head for the Sheraton Krbi Beach Resort, absolutely beautiful setting and wonderful staff, even better than that 4 nights and almost all to ourselves.

Happy hour cocktails, BOGOF(for those in travel). Loved it loved it..

Nothing but lazing around the pool for us for 4 days.
