On the road with Ed and Judie travel blog

Tuesday we made the 300 mile trip from Laughlin to Bakersfield. We traveled along I-40 and then US 58 from Barstow to Bakersfield. There was a lot of desert wind during the trip which did not help the fuel mileage. Also the $4+ diesel price required the first $100 fill up in Barstow.

We again stayed at the Bakersfield RV Park which is a very nice park where we have stayed at several times. The park has a restaurant that serves all 3 meals in addition to pool, hot tub, very good shower/restrooms and laundry.

Wednesday Ed went to the hydro plant for a little work and Judie stayed to clean the trailer and do the laundry. She also had the local team wash the outside of the trailer. Wednesday night we were able to go to an old Basque restaurant in Bakersfield with Jimmy and Tammy. We enjoyed the visit along with the great food at the restaurant. It is served family style, except the main course. We split a Lamb roast main course which was very good. The pickled tongue cut real thin was something we did not remember having before. We did enjoy it with all the other family dishes.

Thursday we were back on the road for the trip to Galt. We had breakfast at the RV Park restaurant before leaving. We made a stop at Harris Ranch for lunch and to visit the store for some meat and grilling/marinating sauces. We don’t think you can beat the Harris Ranch beef from the store and always like to get a few meals for the freezer. We arrived at the Hills at about 5 pm and Jerry help get us set up behind their house. With the use of the 30 amp electrical connect we will stay here for the week.
