We came to Paranaguá from Curitiba by bus (wrong time of day for the expensive but apparently stunning train ride!), but the journey was still beautiful. We just stayed for the night, on our way to Ilha do Mel, but quite liked this sleepy riverside town.
We caught a boat to Ilha do Mel after breakfast in the morning, and loved arriving on a stunning white sandy beach! There are no cars here, so the villages are pretty much just sandy paths between pousadas and people's yards (which are campsites). We spent a very relaxing 3 days walking (and jogging!) along the many beautiful, and deserted, beaches, the rocky outcrops between them, the forest, and the cave. We stayed in a spare room in the house of the happiest man in the world (who called his family to see our electric toothbrush!) - and Da played capoeira with some of the local children.
