|Pretty much the same scenery as we headed west through South Dakota. Loads and loads of land as far as the eyes can see with either corn, hay, cows or just wide open spaces. Temperature is still hot but only have 300ish miles to the Spearfish City Campground where we normally stay for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Decided to have fluids changed at Rapid City Harley Davidson but even this far out from the rally the dealership was slammed and unable to get to me at the moment so decided to head on to the campground. Pulling out of the parking lot, downshifting approaching the stop sign my shifter went to the running board. Pulled off in 3rd gear and chugged along back onto the freeway and as I hit 5th gear the shifter hit the running board in the opposite direction. No problems on the interstate but next time I stopped there would be no getting the bike going again with the trailer in tow. Jeanne went to the campground with our friend Janye while I waited to get things worked out. With a few phone calls and the help of my brother we located a shop right in Spearfish called Dakota Twin, who came and picked up the trailer and took it to camp and then went back and got the bike to the shop. We had planned on staying a couple of days to relax and enjoy but not sure how many days to get the bike fixed. Taxi ride to the campground and set up camp, kicked off boots and the relaxing began.
