Lap Construction in Boat

Thursday we made the 80 mile trip from Flagler to Tavares where we stayed at Fisherman’s Cove Golf and RV Resort. This is a very good looking spot with concrete pads and lots of landscaping. We were met by friendly staff that drove us in a golf cart to look at the available spaces and gave us our choice. This is the first time we have stayed in a park with a marina and docks. The lake with the park appeared to be huge, as we couldn’t see the other end!

After getting set up, we went to the Wooden Boat Show to see Judie’s Cousin Jerry. He was working the show this weekend selling sun glasses and hats. Thursday was setup day so after saying our hello to Jerry, we went around looking at the wooden boats and displays being set up. That evening we were invited to Bill Joslin’s home in Mount Dora. Bill is a long time friend of Jerry and his brother Bill’s from Lebanon MO. Bill retired to Florida and is heavily involve with wooden boats. He has an early 1940’s Chris Craft with is one of only 4 of that model made that year. It is show quality and excellent condition and he will put it in the water and drive it to the show. After a nice dinner with the group at a local Mexican restaurant, we returned to the coach with Gloria.

Friday we got permission to leave the coach in its space until the afternoon so we could go to the Boat Show. The Tavares Wooden Boat Show is one of the top ones in the nation with over 450 boats, with over half in the water. We spent the morning looking at all the boats and taking lots of pictures. We really enjoy the wooden boats with all the craftsmanship. We have actually seen a couple of other wooden boat shows and museums during our travels. We always enjoy seeing and admiring these wonderful boats.

In the afternoon we made the trip back to Lazydays RV Park near Tampa so we were set up to take Gloria back to the airport Saturday morning. Our last dinner with Gloria was barbequed lamb chops. We all reviewed the sights we saw with her in great parts of Florida. Saturday morning we got up early (5 am) and went to the airport with Gloria. We said our goodbyes and she was off to Chicago.

We spent the weekend around Lazydays doing laundry, resting and preparing for next week at Disney World.
