24 February.

Time to hit the hwy 212 again. Today’s trip to That Phanom will be about 50 km. If Mukdahan was small, so are That Phanom even smaller. On my list of hotels, I had only one in That Phanom, the Kritsada Rimkhong Resort. A nice place situated on the Mekong riverbank. The only drawback was that the wi-fi did not worked. That Phanom is small so to navigate, you don’t need a map. That Phanom has only one attraction, the Wat Phra Phanom. This 53 metres high temple is considered as one of the finest in North-Eastern Thailand. I visited the temple in the afternoon and, yes it was very much red, white and gold. In the evening I visited the small and the local night market. It was so so, mostly street food were sold and some clothes.
