Dave and Jeanne's Motorcycle trip to the four corners of USA with side trip to Cabot Trail Nova Scotia CA travel blog

Still hitting the motels due to the heat. Good nights rest and while packing the trailer got into a conversation with a retired Montana Game Warden (go figure, me talking to strangers) who suggested a route out of Missoula. So off to Cracker Barrel, breakfast, and on the road again. We are following Clark Fork River between the Coeur D'Alene Mountains and Cabinet Mountains and believe we have found another little piece of heaven. We stopped at a little recreation area with families enjoying the area/weather when a motorcycle parked and took of his vest with colors and was open carrying. Not a single child/adult/parent even looked twice at the open carrying biker. Engaged a conversation with him ( i know hard to believe) and its the normal way of life up here. In parting he advised to be really careful as they have had a couple of fatality motorcycle vs mountain goats crashes in this area. Stopped at the next gas station and grabbed a real-estate magazine, I have seen open carry before at places of business but was really cool to see in this setting with families enjoying picnic's/fishing/boating and none batted a eye. Was sad to drop down out of the pass and try to beat nightfall to I-90 and find a motel in Couer d'Alene. Still seeing a lot of bikes heading east on I-90 heading to Sturgis. Nice relaxing night, dinner, then sat around the pool as it was in the shade of the setting sun which is still cranking in the high 80's at bedtime.
