July 27 - 28.

I love Yosemite. It looks like an oil painting and it is wonderful to take in the enormous beauty on show. I’m reminded of my feelings from 11 years ago when I was first here with my sons. How lucky I am to be able to return and share it with Amy.

Everything here is a bonus so it is hard to write about highlights. Viewing the granite rocks structures like Half Dome and El Capitan, walking through giant sequoia groves, seeing strong flowing waterfalls and floating in a river as the current took me downstream were all highlights. Just being in the valley and feeling the energy and calmness were special to me.

One of the little surprises was to be able to camp overnight in National Forest parking areas for free. For 3 nights we did not pay for a campsite and stayed outside the park, and had the pleasure of river and lakeside accommodation.

The drive out on Tioga Pass was stunning with great views of mountains, lakes and valleys. The drive itself is fantastic and it’s amazing how roads like this are made. It is certainly a recommended drive from me.
