Well after our long arduous journey across from the red centre, it was time for some R&R on the East Coast. We landed on the coast at a place called Townsville where we managed to find a lovely little campsite on the edge of town and not too far from the beach. Not much to speak off as a town, so we headed up the coast and found a few nice spots on the way up to Cairns, which was nice to do.

Well Cairns again is just another city in Australia, so we decided to head where only the Upshall's can fit in, which is the lovely seaside town of Port Douglas. What a place, lots of little bars and cafes and many many lovely apartments overlooking the beach etc, just the place for us to be for a few days.

Port Douglas is also the main staging point for the outer reaches of the Great Barrier reef and Scuba diving, which will be covered separately.

We also managed to head further North up to Cape Tribulation, which was a nice day out for the oldies, we found a nice icecream factory which made fresh icecream from their fruit trees, lovely jubbly.

Back to Port Douglas and it was 'Come on the Kiwi's' when we decided to watch the Tri Nations Rugby and in a pub full of Aussies, we managed to get chatting to about the only couple from New Zealand, so we became surrogate Kiwi's for the night, which was fun, as we got given loads of abuse from the 10 Pound Pommes who were supporting Oz. Now anyone who knows any Aussies into sport, will know that when it comes to sport they are the most arrogant and cockiest race of people(no offence), so what better way to sock it to them, especially as the Ashes is slowly slipping away as well. Kiwis won, needless to say a quick getaway was required.

Now it was time to start our long journey South to Sydney, oh what joy!
