The Capper Nomads Europe Adventure travel blog

Not far from Freiburg is the mountain called Schauinsland (“look at the land”) at 1286m. From Bad Krozingen we took an interesting narrow road to the top. There is a cable car but this was much more fun! Again there were many trails at the top so with our map in hand we headed out. At one point there was a viewing tower which gave superb panoramic views . There were also a number of carved wooden sculptures. One was a tree truck turned into a rotating seat. We also came across a memorial to five British scouts who had died from exposure in 1936.

We all enjoyed our walk but by the time we returned to the car we were all hot and tired. An excellent last day in the Black Forest. Tomorrow we plan to change base to near the Bodensee or Lake Constance.
