Yes! More roots, but some good ones... Despite a bit of a hangover, I got on my bike again and rode some 30 miles today, all the way round what is called the Grand Circuit, visiting the places I haven't yet been to this time, and many that were completely new to me, including the delightful Banteay Kdei, which is a must. Other highlights were the rear gateway at Ta Som, overgrown by a big tree - and the ruined and overgrown Preah Khan.
I was comparing Angkor to Bagan in Burma, and they are very similar, though there is less variety in the architecture at Angkor, and the Cambodian temples are very much larger and spread over a larger area. However, the density of temples at Bagan is the best thing about the place. So visit both, and Petra in Jordan while you're at it, also amazing. So all in all a good day's templing, very quiet most of the time, completely alone some of it, until I rode back through the Angkor Wat area and particularly Phnom Bakheng, where every night literally thousands of people go to watch the sunset, but not with me. Traffic chaos, but I am getting quite handy at riding round here, should be, I have had enough practice now. And I got an e-mail from Vlad, now back in the States, which was really nice.
