McLeod Family Trip 2010 travel blog

Thursday 27 May

Up to the Patisserie shop with Connor to get our 5 Baguettes. Seems to be more action today around the village. Today we go for a drive to soan area recommended to us. Chatillon is at the southern end of the famous Vercor Mountain Range ( Resistance fighters in WW2 ). The area we will journey into is the northern end of Provence. Chatillon en Diois, Luc en Diois, Valdrome, La Charce, La Motte Chalancon, Volvent, Brette”, St Nazaire le desert, St Benoit en Diois, Pontaix, Die…..back home.

We see a spectacular rock formation, rail viaduct and river. A school group are learning to climb

Beautiful villages, seemingly untouched over the centurys, keeping their charm and character. The camera is doing overtime. Mums getting some great shots….getting quite artistic! We have lunch near the river in. La Motte-Chalancon. Never get tired of Baguette, Jambon, Fromage. We cross over high mountain passes ( not like NZ ) always meadows and villages. The road is pretty good occasionally one car width.

Drop onto Die for some shopping and then home. Boys do some more running over the bridges and steps.

They have another dip in the Drome River….freezing cold…..more hakas, dance moves and celebration. Our elderly neighbours enjoy the skylarking.
