Day 39, Saturday, June 02, 2012

It rained most of the night and was still raining this morning. We slept in late and enjoyed the rain. When it stopped, we took a short drive north back to Healy, just a couple miles down the road. We drove out Stampede Road which is an eight mile road to nowhere on the north side of Denali. It started through forest and ended in wide open spaces of tundra. There was fresh snow all over the mountains in Denali and an awesome view. The end of the road is apparently used by off road people with their ATV’s. We noticed a bunch of sensor things out in the tundra and there were some government people checking them when we came out. I am assuming they are sensors for seismic activity. There are several fault lines near here. We spent the rest of the day just relaxing. Tomorrow, Talkeetna.
