Day 44, Thursday, June 07, 2012

We woke up to a lot of noise this morning coming from the loading dock behind us. Couldn’t wait to pack up and get out of there. It was a long drive to our new place. It took at least 20 minutes to get here and that was only because Rob missed the turn and we had to take the long way. We are at the Mountain View RV Park in Palmer. It’s a lovely place, almost empty, with green grass and trees all around. We are right underneath Matanuska Mountain and the Matanuska River is nearby. It is flowing fast and full of muddy silt. We walked over the bridge and watched the water which looks like it is boiling mud. From this river we can see the Knik Glacier, which heads the Knik River. Both rivers converge and flow into the Knik Arm. It was cloudy today but no rain, temperature was about 60 degrees or so. We still have the door open right now at 10:30 pm. We are going to stay here for a week and take some day trips. Tomorrow though, we have to take the bus in for an oil change. That should be exciting.
