One extreme to the next in Koh Phangan...first night we took a tuk tuk up the island to Coral Bay Bungalows...didn't know that the roads are too rough for the taxis to make it, so we hiked 45 minutes up hill with our 300 pound (well, it felt like 300 pounds!) backpacks to the most beautiful, remote deserted white sand beach. Spent the night lying in our deck hammocks and eating chocolate-banana-twix pancakes and enjoying the peace and quiet...

We were going to need it! The next day brought us to the crazy town of Haad Rin, home of the legendary full moon party and Samsong and redbull buckets. Felt great to meet up with some friends, hung out with Jen's bro, Mike and Jimbo and Geoff "let's get fired up" and then met up with a bunch of guys from Ladner...Dales, Fenton etc...Jen's Swedish friends that she met in New Zealand were also there, Sophia and Johanna, such a small world!

We got to Haad Rin, with low hopes of finding a place remotely near the beach (more than 20 000 people arrive every month for the party)...however, things always seem to work out for us, and while talking to Mike at their bungalows, the lady runs out and tells us a room just opened up...so perfect, right next to the beach and in the middle of the action...

The beach itself was totally beautiful, way nicer than Matt and I expected...there were sweet waves too, so we spent the days body surfing and being blinded by my greasy brother's oily body...Mike Hopp you need to cut back on the coconut tanning oil buddy, before you hurt somebody!!

Basically, the Full Moon Party starts the minute you get there, and we spent both nights dancing like idiots under the moon on the beach with all our friends..."Just nail it!" becoming our famous dance...highlights include me giving all the guys and random strangers tattoos out of neon ink..."Free Snake Show" for Mike, and quite the lady on Jeff's chest...Mike's famous quote of the night: "Girls either give me the eye or they look at me with complete disgust"...

The party itself was so nuts, hard to put into words...just picture 10000s of people, all half naked, dancing like they've drunk 10 bottles of red bull (which they have), then vendors lining the beach selling sand buckets filled with mickeys of the most potent whiskey and red bulls...gotta pace yourself though, we didnt start hard until like 12:00, and by that time, going down to the beach, people were already passed out...no worries though, they have a "passed out area" for all those people who couldnt handle it and didn't want to get jacked...

We made it until the sun started to rise, and finished the night off with a legendary Mama Shnitzels chicken burger and a Mr.K's pancake...(sorry Ozzies, but I think this burger kills it)...

Next day, Haad Rin looked like the night of the living dead...zombies walking the streets, eating junk food and getting out as fast as possible...we decided to move on to Ban Tai for a little hammock relaxation on the beach...we were all feeling a little under the weather, with the exception of my big mess of a brother, who was still drinking at 2:00 in the afternoon, and trying to get everyone else "fired up"...

Spent two nights recuperating on the beach, hanging out with the boys, and then it was time once again to move on...time for a little jungle trekking up north!

Now for the truck, boat, bus, train, plane, tuk tuk journey....
