Departed Lucca and cruised north to Venice. Had a good run on the Autostrada. Four and half hours travel and we were nearing Venice. Hilly and mountainous out of Lucca and then after Bologna it flattened out and crops everywhere.Huge improvement in road signage this side of Italy..no accidental detours through big cities today.Arrived at camping ground in good time 4.00pm.Incredible number of camping grounds to choose from * to **** quality rating.Difference between Italy’s western coast and eastern sea-bord is unbelievable. An incredible number of camping signs and directions!!Wouldn’t you know it just when we buy a map of Italy detailing all camping grounds for fear of poor signage!!End up at an amazing camping ground “Marina di Venezia” very near where the ferries go across to Venice.Wow!What a camp ground..first impression felt like you were back in Disneyland!Beautiful gardens and water fountains, immaculate, absolutely huge ( 15 rugby fields ) but man were they organized.Found a lovely site with shady trees (35deg today),set up camp..getting pretty quick now-military style operation. Then hit the Aquamarine Park…swimming pool complex inside camping ground like splash planet…but with much warmer water!Boys in heaven.Stayed there until it closed at 7.00pm Strolled back through middle of camp ground - shops, restaurants and even a supermarket ( with out inflated prices ) what a complex!!Brought the best hot chick we’ve eaten since leaving NZ and headed back to tents for dinner.Yum!Hoping for an early night but night entertainment kicked off on centre stage so lots of loud music and microphoned voices speaking Italian,German and English.Heaps of Germans and Austrians staying here.We are the only Kiwis!
