After a very early morning and a calm boat journey (Da slept most of the way on Tara's shoulder so that her arm got sun-burnt!) we arrived in Güiria with lots of time to get ourselves to Caripe (we thought!). We were expecting it to be an easy bus journey, but because it's still holiday season, Güiria was in hysteria and the only place we could get to was Puerto la Cruz at 11pm - except that all the hostels and hotels there were fully booked! A Trinidadian (David, who now lives in Venezuela because the women love him here!!) helped us find somewhere to stay. We had dinner with him and then an early night because we planned to meet him at 4.30am the next morning to catch a por puesto (shared taxi) to Carúpano to make our way to Caripe.
