Turnagain Arm (low tide)

Turnagain Arm (High tide)

Day 52, Friday, June 15, 2012

It was raining again this morning when we got up. We drove south again back toward Anchorage. We turned off and took the Alyeska Highway which does not go very far. The end of the Crow Mine Road is 6 miles and ends in a gorgeous valley of new green and old snow. We explored Girdwood which was wiped out in the 1964 earthquake and what was left moved two miles up the access road and started over. They have a lovely hotel with a fountain and flowers and tulips everywhere. Girdwood is big for skiing in the winter. We ate lunch at the Chair 5 and I had more halibut and chips. Yum. The tide was coming in to Turnagain Arm so we watched for the belugas but no luck. Right now, we are sitting in the Anchorage airport waiting for Cooper’s plane to land. He will spend a week with us.
