We are in the midst of the first mega storm to hit Colorado. Snowfall varies from 10 inches to 40 inches at higher elevations. Skiers are in heaven. We are holed up in Tortuga at Prospect RV Park with about 50 other RVs.

We had to disconnect water and empty our lines so nothing would freeze and burst. Looks like we will be able to move further south by Saturday.

Since we did not want to drive we took a bus trip to Black Hawk and Central City, about an hour up into the mountains. These two cities were huge mining towns in the gold rush of the mid 1800's. When gambling was legalized in Denver over 20 years ago, these two cities became the destination of a modern day fool and fortune hunter--the casinos now hold out a promise of gold(but as we all know, it is often an unfulfilled promise).

The bus ride there was a trip through winter wonderland. We had been on a portion of the highway last Saturday with Mike and to see the same area now snow covered and snow continuing to fall was really exciting. The day was so overcast that the pictures appear to be taken in black and white. I know I'm not quite Ansel Adams yet.
