All the fishermen trying for salmon

Lake the Kenai river comes from

Day 60, Saturday, June 23, 2012

Sixty days on the road and I am not remotely getting tired of it yet. We have our routines, places to put everything, and I haven’t felt any urge to shoot my husband for getting on my nerves. It’s all working out perfectly. We got up early today so we could stop at a bakery called The Moose is Loose for donuts for breakfast. Best donuts I’ve had in a long time. They have a lot of cute moose stuff in the store also. Then off for a long 3 hour drive to Anchorage to get Cooper on his plane and back to Phoenix. Then another long 3 hour drive back to camp. Along the way, we scoped out some potential camping spots for when we return this way in a couple weeks.

On Saturday nights, the campground has a fish fry potluck up on the viewing deck for everyone. They do the fish, salmon and baked halibut, and campers bring the sides. It was very good. Campers are comparing notes about who’s doing what and which tours are good. We have met a lot of locals that winter in Arizona. The best of both worlds.
