Heading back to camp

Leaving on last day, Geoff waving out.

Now we have rain again, and it has affected the journey. The pleasures of Africa.

Moved along Caprivi Strip, hoping to cross into Botswana, but road was closed for some time due to a severely muddy and flooded road.

Eventually got through, via Mahango Game Reserve - this is a real back water

border crossing. Thankfully an english guy living in Skakawe helped us through in his 4WD, with a tow when we got stuck!

Then down to the Panhandle of the Okavango Delta. Our drives up north have been very much different from south Namibia - seems much more the traditional Africa with village life and lots of donkey, cattle and goats on the road! Left van at Etsha 13 (Angolan Permanent refugee camp)and headed by 4WD to Guma Lodge on edge of Western Delta.

Spent next night camping wild in the bush after a mokoro trips and bush walk in the

delta. Scary stuff knowing that hippos and crocs are under the water while you are in a

pretty small like canoe! But it ended up being a very pleasant way of getting around and seeing this watery wonderland. Bush walk was the same, thinking something could pop up at any time, but great to see it was only antelope, warthogs and birds! Mossies were voracious the whole time though, and you get bitten no matter what precautions you take! Even liked Nancy even though she never usually gets bitten.

Then back to lodge eventually for a bit of a rest.
