Hart Ranch Resort, Rapid City, SD

Gillette Wyoming to Rapid City South Dakota

Tom got up and went outside this morning to take the covers off the front windows and stow them. He washed the windows so we would be able to see the scenery today. Jonathan and I had breakfast then started working on getting things ready to go on the inside of the rig. Our neighbor started talking with Tom. He was really nice. I went out and joined them after a little while because they seemed like fun people. I told Tom later that I wished we had done that earlier in the week because I enjoyed talking wit them. Who knows, maybe we'll run into them again some day.

We got on the road around 11:30. We only had three hours to drive today so that was fine. It was one of our short days. We arrived at Hart Ranch around 2:30. We thought we would only be able to stay here for two days but it worked out where we would be able to stay for two weeks. We'll have to move once but that's OK. We got checked in then went to our site to set up camp. Once that was done, I cut Jonathan's and Tom's hair.

We had read in the activities brochure that there was going to be a Christian performance/worship time tonight so we decided to go to that. It was a man and his wife Wes and Dawn Coyour. They are from Minnesota and have a ministry called "Remember the Family" (www.rememberfamily.org) Wes sang and played guitar while Dawn ran sound. Wes had written many of the songs he sang. He also recognized the Veterans and lead the group in several patriotic songs so that was nice. Both of their parents and a few other family members were in the audience so it was a nice gathering for them. We had the chance to hang around and talk with them for a little while afterwards. They are traveling in their van right now going to places where their parents are camping from what we understood.

We stopped and got ice cream before we went back to the RV. The skies were looking bad and there was lightening in the distance. Right now it's raining and the wind is blowing pretty good. We even had a little bit of hail a few minutes ago. Things sound like they're settling down now though so that's good. The ones I really feel for are the people in tents and pop-ups.
