Further On Up the Road Via Blue Highways

Welcome to our trip journal! We just embarked on another adventure and this one is inspired by a song and a book. One of our favorite country singers is the legendary Johnny Cash and we heard, for the first time today, one of his songs "Further On Up the Road" and loved it. Dennis and I recently read the book, "Blue Highways" by William Least Heat-Moon and he traveled our great country primarily via what are now red roads on our maps but in the early 80's they were still blue. These are the type of roads we use, whenever possible, to see the road less traveled. Who wants to zip down a highway seeing trucks, rude drivers and fast food restaurants when you can see the real America? We plan on traveling to the Dakotas and then after that, who knows?!?! Enjoy!
