On the road with Ed and Judie |
|
Welcome to my trip journal by Ed and Judie. We are starting a new adventure with retirement and full time travel until we see the USA or get tired of traveling. Initial retirement for Ed will include some consulting from the road but we hope to have time to see the sites also. We have sold our house near Redding California and put some furniture and possessions in storage.
Our initial plan is stay 1 to 2 weeks in one location and take day trips to explore the area. We will then move on with a days travel and stay again. We will let you know how our plan works out as time passes. We are traveling in a 2005 Ford 250 crew cab with a short bed and a 31 foot Mountaineer travel trailer. The trailer has a rear lounge and 2 slides. We are also traveling with 2 small 6 pound dogs, a 4 year old Maltese (Joy) and a 9 month old Malti-poo (Tobie).
We have done some research getting ready for this adventure and have set up a mail forwarding service in South Dakota and they have helped us get our vehicles registered in SD. Our first trip in September 2009 will be to South Dakota to get drivers licenses and register to vote so we can become official residents. We were both raised in California and lived our whole lives there so our travels will probably try to keep us out of snow or cold weather where possible. We expect to winter in the Southwest and travel the Northern states late spring to the fall. Come follow our adventure and see how we do with our plans.
