I made it to columbia with minimun hassle. I spent the first day in an old historic town, in fact the oldest post columubus settlement in the country, interseting historic buildings, obviously quite spanish, very safe at nicght with a coll breeze perfect for strolling the town. Thought, of course, I got rather lost and spend a good half hour backtracking round in circles looking for my hostel. Then next day I heading to a little fishing village (is a theme forming here) called Taganga. It's on the carribean coast and quite beautiful surrounded by mountains with the clearest water I've ever seen. I'm satying with a columbian family here for a few days. I figure it's a much better way to improve my spanish than in a hostel with canadians and israelis. Tomorrow I'm taking my first PADI diving course, I'm a little nervous, it's not something I'd usually do but I thought why not and we're going to go to a beautiful national parque where there's untouched coral and lots of marine wildlife. Then I'm off to caratgena to take spanish classes.
