Nick and I arrived in Ko Samui on March 9th, via ferry from Surant Thani. We got here at about 10pm, so there was not very many huts to choose from. We went to sleep amongst the spiders and cockroaches in the only hotel that we could find a hut. Yuck!
The next morning I got up early to seek out another hotel, and for a dollar more I found a great hut right on the beach for about $6US. The beaches are lovely here and not too horribly crowded. There seem to be more vendors on the beach than tourists. They are funny. All of the girls that go around giving manicures and pedicures have been busy harrassing Nick saying, "You sexy man, you got tiger nails!" They would leave him alone they kept grabbing his hands trying to cut his nails. Finally after sitting on his hands didnt work he had to get up and jump into the ocean. "Hey, sexy man, where you go."
Nick celebrated his 24th birthday here and it went off with a bang with a group of people that we met. "The League of Nations," we called ourselves, 1 Norwiegan girl, 1 Englishman, 1 Greek guy, 1 Polish girl and 2 Americans. Two bottles of Thai Whiskey and too many beers to count made us end up in the Karoke bar embarrassing ourselves.
We have went to a couple of Thai Boxing matches that are big here. There is one nearly every night. They are insane! There are the girls, guys, and the "she-boys," that compete.
Today we went on an Elephant Trek through the jungle to the Namaung Waterfall. It was great. The elephants are so cute. We rode on a seat most of the way and then each got to sit up on the elephants neck for a bit. Absolutly Awesome.
Tomorrow we are catching the ferry bright and early to head over to the neighboring island of Ko Tao to do some snorkeling. We will probably spend 2 nights there before heading up to Bangkok.
Thats about it for now. Hope that you all are doing well...
