We stepped on the gas and left Dunedin, deciding to get over to the West Coast and the fine sunny weather as the rain was getting us down. We drove along the coast to Balclutha and then headed inland through Gore and on to the beautiful small town of Te Anau. We stopped for lunch at Lake Manapouri and sat on probably the cutest beach in the world which we had to ourselves. We walked alongside Lake Te Anau later that day with the famous Tip Top Ice Creams (seriously good Icecream) and checked into a 5* holiday park for the night for only $25. Te Anau has to be our favourite place so far, the town centre is gorgeous with decent pubs and friendly peeps. We met a great American couple from Yellowstone national park and yes they actually live there who briefed us on all the walks to do over the next few days in the area. On the lash that night we met up with a cool Southport lad and his Dad (just turned 50) who had just come from doing the Nevis in Queenstown - needless to say their hilarious descriptions of it were enough to make us decide to chicken out and do something else instead!!
