In the morning we had a fun swim in the natural pools situated at the bottom of Mount Maunganui, the largest pools temp was 40 degrees bringing new meaning to the words hot and bothered:) We walked to the summit of Mount Maunganui thinking that given the amount of exercise we'd been doing it would be a breeze - turns out it doesn't matter how many mountains you climb its still hard work. The view as always was well worth the effort and things started to look up again after a shabby few days.
In the afternoon we drove through Whitianga and along the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula road which is again right next to the sea. We stopped of at Captain Cooks beach for some piccies and continued on stopping to watch the sun go down into the sea in the lovely little town of Coromandel. We carried on in the darkness searching for a rest area and gave in staying the night in a caravan park on the beach.
