Went on a day trip with Sandy and Marc to Echuca, an old gold mining town on the New South Wales (NSW) border. We also crossed over the Murray River (on the border) to visit Moama on the other side in NSW. Mainly came to Echuca to see my nephew Gary who lives here. Had lunch with him at the Star Hotel in Echuca. And also went to Moama to see where Sandy and Merv used to live.
I had heard a lot about the old part of Echuca, as my folks had really enjoyed coming here. It has been kept pretty much in its original look as an old gold mining town on the Murray. And they still have the old horse and cart going through town, now with tourists aboard. You can almost imagine the place as it was 120 years ago. With its history and with Murray River trips on offer, it is now a pretty big tourist destination in Australia. We really enjoyed the outing, which was topped off with another visit to a winery. This time Morrison's.
Nancy and I came back to Melbourne two days later on the early train and this time got to see some kangaroos running (skipping) wild in the Victorian farmlands. Pulled into Spencer St. Station for our next couple of days in the big city.
