NZ Finally Home!
30 Sep 2006
|Well this is all folks, the website closes tomorrow (2nd Nov) so this will be the last update, we had a fantastic trip and hopefully you enjoyed sharing some of it with us. The good and the bad :)
It has certainly been an interesting and enlightening journey, plenty of fantastic memories made and valuable lessons learnt. Thanks to all the messages along the way, and we promise to keep in touch one on one again, now that this has closed.
Love Nancy & Tony xx
Hi all, we arrived safe and sound in NZ, the weather was rain rain and more rain for the first few days, but sun is shining now....
We will update the last few weeks of website hopefully over the next week or two, We thought we may have got lots done already but the last few days have flown by... catching up with family, me in Auckland and Tony in Tauranga, which has felt very very strange, being apart after 24/7 for the last 8 months! but we will be back together again this saturday (can't wait!).
Was my niece Madi's 2nd birthday today (4th Oct) and I am loving being aunty Nancy! Lucky since Tony has 16 Nieces and Nephews!!
Now 31 October and we have been back and forth between Auckland and Tauranga a lot. Have also managed to visit friends and family in Hamilton, the Cambridge farm, Waihi and had a lovely romantic time for a day/night back at the Duxton Hotel, Lake Rotoiti, where we were married 18 months ago. Planning a road trip currently to see folk in the Coromandel, Hastings/Napier, Wellington and then into the South Island in November. Juggling this with all the settling down admin, and maybe even work!
Bit of a shame that the website will close before we get to the South Island but we are sure you are probably getting a bit bored with our travels now....
The website closes on the 2nd of November (you will still be able to access it but we can no longer edit it)
Tony has done our final mileage to get from London to Auckland (what a geek!)
61,148kms was the grand total
This was split 50-50 between flying and overland/water, so we ended up with an incredible 30,481kms over land and water. Of this, 18% was train, 4.5% boat, 0.2% bicycle (lazy buggers) and the rest 77% was bus, car, tuktuk, truck, van and even a touch of hiking. These figures do not include all the walking, public transport around cities and towns, so our walking would have been a lot more. This is just the figures getting from place to place and day-trips. Man we enjoyed it!
Bye for now, hope all is well
Nancy & Tony xxx
