Paul & Jan's Fulltime Adventure travel blog

Our first stop after we left Calgary & the great country of Canada was Great Falls, MT. We had passed through here on our way up, but didn't stop. There were a few places we wanted to see, the truck needed an oil change and I needed a haircut.

A new Lewis & Clark Interpretative center had recently been opened. It is located on the Missouri River just east of Great Falls. We toured the center & learned alot about the expedition that we hadn't known. We also visited some of the falls that the expedition had to negotiate on the river in this area. There are several, hence the name "Great Falls." Dams have been built above many of them since then, so it is not a true picture of what they saw at that time. Still one can only imagine the hardships they must have endured.

We also visited a trout hatchery that is fed by a huge spring. For the heck of me, I can't remember the name of it. You wouldn't believe how clear and clean the Missouri river is up here.

This is a very nice area. Stay tuned for more.....
