Skyline Resort, Front Royal, Virginia.

Drive along Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

We set the alarm for 8:00 this morning. The weather prediction for today was that it might be cloudy this morning but clearing in the afternoon. We figured we would take our time getting up and then after breakfast head out the door to Skyline Drive for the day.

The sun was starting to come out as we were leaving. When we arrived at the Visitor's Center in the park, the sun was shining but the clouds were still kind of low over the mountains. We stood on a ridge outside the Visitor's Center watching the clouds literally roll right over us; moist and a couple times feeling like rain.

We went inside the Visitor's Center to watch the video presentation about the park and look around some, then hit the road. We stopped at almost every lookout point today. All the views were beautiful. A couple of them really stood out because of the trees that were at the look out point. We could frame the valley in between the trees so it made for beautiful pictures. We stopped at one overlook and brought the cooler out and had lunch there as well. It was getting a little colder at that point in the day so you'll see Jonathan wrapped up and snuggled up by Tom in the pictures at that site. It was a fun, slow paced day.

We drove along Skyline Drive until 5:30 or so then headed out of the park. We stopped at a Pizza Hut (which we later realized was in Kentucky) for dinner then drove back. The GPS took us on a rather interesting route. We headed up main highways for a while then it took us through what we later discovered was Washington's National Forest. Winding roads, up and down, curve left and right. Jonathan had decided to sit in the back seat by himself. We were about 20 miles from home when he said he wasn't feeling very good. Tom and I looked at each other. We asked him if he'd like to come sit in front with us and he said "yes" so once we did that, thankfully he was fine. We drove the rest of the way home and tucked him in bed soon after that.

Tom has to dial into work again tonight. It's the busy time of year. Things at work are changing daily. It's crazy if you ask me. Say a little prayer for him if you would, that things at work settle down and that people communicate with one another to make this new plan they're trying to implement work.
