In Wellington we stayed with Sue’s sister, Diane, who also seemed to know the girlfriend of our friend Brett (from Salento)! We all went out for the night to a Bar and then had a very surreal experience at a Colombian Party where Diane took us. Lovely Colombian music, medieval fancy dress and poetry were the themes of this famous New Zealand poet’s 50 birthday party. We had a lovely time dancing and, oddly, speaking Spanish again! The next day we were up early; walked to the ferry terminal and were on our way to the infamous South Island for a farm stay in Seddon, near Blenheim (grapevine country). The journey into the South Island was stunning and you could see why people rant on about it.
