Today we drove about 280 miles from Anecortes to Cannon Beach, Oregon. We will be staying here for a month. The beach is about 4 blocks from our campsite. It is a gorgeous beach. One of the main features here is a huge 235 foot rock called "Haystack Rock".
It is one of the most photographed attractions on the coast. This monolith was designated a marine garden in 1990, protecting it both above and below the high tide level. We have not had a chance to explore it yet but have heard it is fantastic. It is a wildlife reserve and has all kinds of marine life at the base and tons of birds.
Our internet connection here is slow. I will have to post only a few pictures at a time. We will be exploring all the beach towns in the area and of course the state parks. More later from Oregon.
