Ahh, more poppies on the hillside.

Yosemite Lakes Thousand Trails

Bakersfield to Yosemite National Park

We woke this morning at Eric and Jenni's and had breakfast with them and the girls. Jenni had gone all out on a delicious egg dish for breakfast. Much better than the cold cereal or granola bars we would have had if we had hit the road on our own because all the food had been packed up in the pantry behind the slide.

We drove for about six hours today. We saw the posies Eric and Jenni had told us about. The yellow, orange and purple flowers were in bloom up and down the highways. They only bloom for a couple weeks a year so we were fortunate to be able to see them.

As we drew closer to Yosemite Lakes, the scenery began to change. Things became greener and the roads began to twist and turn as we climbed up the mountains and go through the pass. Jonathan had been sitting in the front seat enjoying the scenery for a while but the twists and turns were making him a little nervous.

We arrived at the campground safe and sound. It was still daylight so we had plenty of time to get set up and relax for a while. They have most of the campground shut down for the winter season. There's only one other RV and us here today. The ranger said they were expecting about twenty more rigs this week but for now we've almost got it all to ourselves.

We spent the evening unwinding by watching Narnia Prince Caspian then it will be an early morning for Tom. Jonathan and I will probably do a little bit of exploring tomorrow.
