California, Here We Come! travel blog

We spent our last night at the Hotel Galleria in the financial district of SF and after a quick breakfast checked out and back into another SF hotel, the Holiday Inn Express in Fisherman's Wharf. We explored the wharf, Mike loved Ghiradelli Square and all its chocolate! We also saw the crookedest street in the world Lombard St which was pretty crazy.

We then took a 1:45 ferry to Alcatraz Island and took an audio tour of the cellhouse. It was a really great tour. The weather has been beautiful, chilly but sunny, and most of us have gotten a bit sunburned...

After we got back to Pier 33 from Alcatraz we had time to explore the wharf for an hour or so before we got on another ferry to Sausalito. Sausalito was breathtakingly beautiful with cute shops and seafood restaurants. We chose one restaurant that ended up being delicious. Jenny got shrimp scampi with the biggest shrimp I've ever seen, I got a big plate of scallops, shrimp and salmon and Mike and Jose ordered halibut. They've eaten the same meal at every restaurant we've eaten at...seriously, every meal. We caught the last ferry back to San Fran at 8pm and stopped for some good CA beers at Jack's Bar which had 68 beers on tap, yum.

Tomorrow we're leaving SF and heading down the coast. Stay tuned :)
