We had a much better day today. :-) We spent the day viewing the city of Saint John and the Reversing Falls. We are so glad we were able to see Saint John on a Sunday. There was hardly any traffic and parking was free all over the city. We were able to stop and take pictures anywhere we pleased. Saint John is the largest city in the province of New Brunswick, and the oldest incorporated city in Canada.
After our time in the city we went to view the Reversing Falls. In Saint John the height difference from low to high tide is approximately 28 feet. The falls are actually an area of strong rapids. At high tide the ocean water is pushed through a narrow gorge in the middle of the city and forces the St. John River to reverse its flow for several hours. We were lucky enough to time it just right to enjoy the show.
After our visit to the Reversing Falls, we decided to have lunch at one of the restaurants right across from the falls at the Split Rock Cafe. We had a perfect view of the changing rapids right out our window. The price for fish and chips was $8.99.
Tomorrow will be another travel day. We will be driving along the Bay of Fundy and are expecting some awesome views. More later from Canada.
