On the road to Lakeport, Ca

Woke up this morning to fog horns and fog. It was cool and damp. We left 48 F in Crescent City but we were headed to 31 F (-1 C)further down the coast at Arcata. That’s okay, we’ve been in worse. Got on the road and started back down the coastal hwy 101, taking us through the Redwood National Forest. Another spectacular site! The redwood trees were humongous, to say the least. Turkey and I looked like tiny ants next to them. Honey, I shrunk the kids!! Lol

So we spent the better part of our morning riding and walking amongst these amazing trees. Once we had enough of that, we headed out of the park, and there was an Elk buck surrounded by at least 6 female elk with their young. Another amazing site! We pulled off the road and started snapping pictures. Back on the road once again, and headed inland, to try and warm up. Wow….be very careful what you wish for. Inland, we rode into a balmy 81 F in a matter of an hour. Weird. I can’t believe the temperature difference within a short distance. By suppertime we had made it as far as Lakeport, so decided to call it a night. Lakeport is a small town on the side of Clear Lake.
