Jess in Europe travel blog

The weekend was off to a lively start with the stage show of Calendar Girls in Liverpool. There were excellent performers and highly humours. A very nice way to get to know my workmates- there were 14 of us ladies that showed up. Oh I will miss the theatre when I return.

Saturday night saw the arrival of a Pat Ave work mate, Helen. We drove to Southport for a music and fireworks competition. It was well organised and a great idea to include a wide variety of music. Unfortunately the rain came down after the first group so we didn’t stay as long as we wanted. Having Helen stay was a nice opportunity to compare the British and Kiwi lifestyles and reminisce.

I enjoyed the tour around the national trust site of Old Rufford Hall. A lovely gentleman told us all about the daily life of the Hesketh’s. There were some outstanding wood carvings and a nice display of Victorian and Tudor styles as the house has undergone several renovations.

Well I must carry on with my addition to the millennium book series.
