CRUISING THE SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN WITH STOPS IN ARUBA, CURACAO,TRINIDAD,BARBADOS, ST. VINCENT,ST KITTS,ST THOMAS, SAN JUAN AND GRAND TURK

What a magnificent cruise.

It was a time to rejuvinate from a long harsh winter in Alberta.

The sun was wonderfull, the scenery was unbelivable, the water was a crystal clear blue.

It was a way to see some of the old world and results of conquests by various nations.

We were able to relax at the beach Moomba in Aruba for three amasing hours; something we cannot do in Alberta during March. The water was warm. We were able to sun tan.We walked along the beach, saw people relaxing in the envigorating heat and sunshine. Wonderful time was had.

Tuesday March 16, 2010 we docked in Willemstad, Curacao. Curacao is an island some 40 miles off Venezuela. It is an island that is dramatic, sometimes barren and formed from volcanic rock. The island is 38 miles long and 7.5 miles wide. It was greatly populated with people who came to work in building one of the world's largest crude oil refinery which processed oil from Venezuela.

Willemstad the capital is a neat little Dutch town with its colorful row houses. It is cosmopolitan and its population is composed of some 40 different nationalities. Since it was our second visit to Willemstad we did not take a tour but opted out to walk into town from the ship. One interesting stop we had in our walk was the floating market. It was along a dock in the harbour and the vendours were selling fish, produce, artifacts from their skifts or boats. Some of the boats had come all the way from Venezuela, others were fishermen from Willemstad.
