Our Worldwide Adventures 2010 travel blog

We set off today late at midday. Although Koh Chang is not far east of Koh Samet you have to go back to the mainland, travel to Trat and cross again on the boat. We arrived at Ban Pe shortly before 2pm and couldn't get a mini bus to Trat. In the end we got a 2 hour Tuk Tuk for GBP20. By the time we arrived at Koh Chang off the ferry it was dark and we had to endure another 40 minute Tuk Tuk ride down to lonely beach.

Koh Chang is the 3rd biggest island in Thailand and it's English name means Elephant island. We eventually arrived at Lonely beach around 8pm and found a nice bungalow at Sunflower. We had to stay in a 700BHT room for tonight and then we will move to a cheaper room tomorrow.

We went to the Banana bar opposite and sat on cushions on the floor listening to live music. The bar was decorated in leaves and Elephants. Joss taught me how to play chess whilst having dinner. After dinner we walked through the street up to a bar called Ting Tong where we met Lorraine and Claire who we met in Vietnam and Cambodia. We watched a band, had a few drinks and then went back to the bungalow. The area we are staying in seems quite lively, there are a few bars, shops and restaurant. Everything seems really chilled out and there is lots to do. The beach is a short ten minutes walk away and we can't wait to get down there tomorrow...
