Day trip here but missed the 10am tour of the famous factory and museum since we did not know that it only goes 2 times a day, 10 & 5. Still it was very interesting and the walk to the park/ museum went along the Uruguay river. This was/is the furthest inland deep water port in Uruguay, now used mainly to ship lumber out. Used to be a major meat processing/shipping town providing over 50% of world meat products. The processing facility operated for 117 yrs until 1980. Check Out Fray Bentos and History of Meat Processing Etc. Day began hot and humid but by the time we returned to Mendosa, the rains began...this is the first time in our journey Bon has used her umbrella for both sun AND rain in the same day!
