LIFES ONE LONG HOLIDAY - 2005 travel blog

The A J Hackett Bunjy Jump. The first one in the world

Arrowtown just outside Queestown

We were very excited to meet our new campervan to take

us around New Zealand. We decided to splurge and

upgraded to a bigger version of Lily with a toilet and

shower! HE is yet-to-be-named, but sure that will

come to us soon enough.

Hopped in and started the new journey. From the

moment we left Christchurch, we knew we would like it

here. The landscape is more breathtaking than any

place we've been so far. Mountains as far as the eye

can see, snow capped in the distance and greener than

the Grinch at eye level.

Didn't waste any time driving. Put 400K to the first

destination, Omamrama. Stopped at Lake Tekapo with

ice blue water, literally created from glaciers

hundreds of years before. That vision with the

mountains and blue sky behind it could be on the top

10 most romantic spots in the world. Stunning.

We stayed the night in Omamrama. First night in the

new van a success. The last night in Cairns, the long

flights, the long drive and the general lack of sleep

finally caught up with us. We were exhausted! Bigger

bed, nice, warm duvets and we were out like lights in

no time.
