We have made it safe and sound. San Francisco to London flight on Virgin Atlantic VERY uncomfortable as little more leg room than domestic flight and uncomfortable seats. Good to get off plane and get to B&B in Gower St by about 1pm. Freshened up and then headed out to Pub for lunch and a much needed coffee for Mum. No flat white but good enough!
Then took tube to Arsenal to see where I lived but to also experience a bit of life surrounding the English Premier League as Arsenal had just played a home game. There was still lots of people around, food stands, merchandise stalls etc.
Good to see the new housing on the old Highbury ground, my old flat and then walked up to Emirates Stadium. Mum took lots of photos and made friends with a few stall holders in the process.
Headed back to B&B via Marks and Spencer to grab some supper. A great food shopping experience for Mum.
Have to say its lovely being back here. Doesn't seem that long since I lived here but more than 10 years since I moved away.
Day 2 was spent on a hop on hop off bus tour around London. Cruisng past Harrods, Hyde Park, the Ritz, Tower of London, piccadilly Circus etc. Hoped off for a wander around Covent Garden where I made my first purchase of a framed picture. Mum resisted purchasing anything (apart from coffee of course). We had lunch in a nice Bistro sitting under a Scottish themed print whic the waiter added a candle in an old Gordon's gin bottle to, so Dad definitely was joining us for the mother's day lunch! :-)
Quiet night in B&B again.
Will add some photos when I can get my iPad to download them!
