Hwy 101 pulls away from the coast

The coast fog rolling inland

The fog layer is mysterious

More tall Redwoods

aka - Umbellularia californica (pepperwood trees)

Yep, they were right about the curves

Curvy and hilly

Ooo, I hope we see one

Winding river along the road

They paint murals everywhere

Fall colors

The magic of the scenery

Bright yellows and oranges

More colors

Busy little town

This looks like the brown hills of CA Gold Country

It's very hilly here

We are in going home mode, so we hit the road again heading to Ukiah. Highway 101 travels more inland at this point but we still had lovely scenery with forests and streams and bright fall colors on the deciduous trees.

We found the Ukiah Elks lodge up on a hill with a lovely view of the area. They have a large Veterans Memorial Wall with names on plaques, honoring members of the community that served in any of the military branches.

We were set up by noon and went into the lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon we went in for a happy hour drink and asked for a recommendation for a nice place for dinner. It was unanimous, so we went to Ukiah Garden Café to celebrate my birthday. It was lovely, good food and romantic atmosphere.
